There are three search methods you can use on the portal provided the Georgia Secretary of State Corporations Division [1] which are by name, control number, and registered agents. 

All the information presented on the page such as extensive business details, filing history, and more are produced and collected by Georgia’s State Secretary and are made available for public use.

Search by Name

Searching by name is the most commonly used type of method when looking for a particular business entity. But do note that this won’t generate the most refined results. 

To start the search, head over to the Georgia Secretary of State’s Business Search portal. Enter the business name on the blank field. Hit ‘Search’ once you’re done.

You will be directed to a page with a list of results based on the information you have provided earlier. Also provided on the page are corresponding information about the listed businesses such as control number, business type, address, registered agent name, and status. 

Click on a particular business name to load more pieces of information.

After selecting a particular name, a complete set of information will be displayed on the next page. Also, a set of links with different functions will be provided at the bottom part of the page, which includes access to the filing and name history.

Search by Control Number

Searching by control number will generate a single result. By providing an accurate control number, only a specific business name will be presented on the results page. 

To start, open the Georgia Secretary of State’s Business Search portal. On the page, enter the control number on the blank field. Check if the number you entered is correct and click ‘Search’ once you’re finished.

If you have entered a correct control number, one result should only appear on the page. Click the name to generate more extensive business details.

Search by Registered Agent/Officer Name

If you happen to know the business entity’s registered agent or its company officer, you can use this information to know more about the business. Enter the full name or a part of their name on the blank field on the Georgia Secretary of State’s Business Search portal. Click ‘Search’ to generate results.
